Raleigh-based hospitality group LM Restaurants has set a companywide goal of raising $100,000 by the end of July for work being done in Ukraine. The money will go toward World Central Kitchen, a not-for-profit organization, and its efforts to feed people displaced by the war in Ukraine.
LM Restaurants is planning to raise the funds through events, donations and sales from a special Ukraine cocktail at 29 of its restaurants.“My father is an immigrant from a small village in Greece. Growing up he heard his mother’s stories of WWII invasions. As a family and a company, we couldn’t sit by and do nothing – we are compelled to act now,” Amber Moshakos, company president and daughter of founders Lou and Joy Moshakos, said. “Our mission is to feed our community, so partnering in a fundraiser for World Central Kitchen was the best way for us to feed the greater global community.”
LM Restaurants locations include Taverna Agora, Carolina Ale House and A’Verde Cocina and Tequlia Library.
Customers can add donations of $5, $10 or $20 to their restaurant checks through the month of July.
